Northwest MS Community College Marshall Hall

With a growing number of new students each year, NWCC planned a new 160-student dormitory for the Senatobia Campus. Each dormitory unit houses four students who have their own kitchen, washer/dryer, bathroom, living room and sleeping quarters. The complex also has a centrally located host house, office and gathering area for the students. Privacy, safety, energy efficiency and low maintenance were all primary design requirements specified by the owner and met in the design of this complex. By working closely with the staff and our consultants, AERC was able to provide quality construction documents in a timely manner. Architectural design was delivered in less than three months and bids were under budget. As planned, the complex was completed in time for the students to move in for the spring semester. This building will provide a new home for the Division of Nursing faculty and students in a state-of-the-art facility with classrooms, lecture halls, administrative space and labs featuring mock hospital rooms with computer-controlled simulated patients for the most realistic training possible. The building also features several sustainable features such as daylighting and occupancy lighting controls, efficient hvac systems and a super-insulated building envelope.
