This project was the implementation of Phases 1 and 2 from the Hernando UMC's Master Plan (see Master Planning Projects on this website), which was designed to facilitate Children and Youth Ministries.
Originally planned strictly for Children's Ministries, it became apparent during early design development that the Youth functions, as well as additional children's classes could be accommodated within the attic volume of the building mass at less cost than the originally planned Phase 2 scope of work. Therefore, the church decided to incorporate both phases into this building. The location was also moved from the original master plan.
The Church was very concerned that the addition would blend architecturally with their existing facility, so this drove the resulting exterior massing and material selections. In the first picture below, the addition is the building to the right.
