Hernando United Methodist Master Plan

Facing current and projected growth, especially in their children's department, the Hernando United Methodist Church, wanted to systemmatically plan for their this growth and provide for all the various ministry groups and ages. Phase 1 originally consisted of classrooms and support spaces for pre-school and children's day-care, choir room and administrative area renovations. Phase 2 originally in-filled an existing courtyard with a fellowship / welcome space and classrooms below and youth activity room above. Phase 3 planned a sanctuary expansion, new choir room and additional adult educational rooms. As Phase 1 was further developed, it became evident that the Youth Room and related spaces could be incorporated into the 'attic space' of the Phase 1 building for relatively little additional cost. The location of this Phase was also changed from the original Master Plan. See the Project Photos below for progress drawings of the Master Planning Process. Senatobia Presbyterian Master Plan

Mississippi Main Street recently awarded this project the Best New Development Project in the Economic Restructuring Category. Senatobia Presbyterian Church wanted to improve the overall accessibility of their campus which consisted of several buildings, all with different floor levels, and only accessible by using exterior routes. Therefore, Phase 1 of their Master Plan focused on connecting all their buildings with a covered and convenient accessible route. This element also became an architectural element that tied their diversely styled buildings into one cohesive whole. It also gave their campus a new 'front' and landscaped parking area to replace the corner C-store that was demolished at the adjacent street corner. Phase 2 planned the renovation of the Youth house. The house was opened up spatially and the interior was modernized. An outdoor activity area and covered picnic area were also planned in this phase to support a wide variety of youth ministry activities. Phase 3 involved minor renovations of the existing administration building, including guest and staff parking for regular business hour use. Phase 4 planned the renovation and expansion of the existing fellowship hall. The master plan also identified phased costs and schedules, and identified many maintenance items that can be completed over time....
